3 Autumn Hairstyle Trends You’ll Fall In Love With

April 18, 2017

When it comes to hairstyle trends for autum/winter 2017, the key word is certainly ‘simplicity’.

Whether it’s a simple, sleek ponytail, expertly tied with an embellished hairband, or natural looking, soft waves – it’s all about having and maintaining a hairstyle that looks effortless.

Another thing to remember when it comes to these hairstyle trends – or any hairstyle for that matter – is that you have to work with a style that will best suit your hair type.

Sure, using hairstyling tools such as straighteners or curling irons are great, but over processed and over styled hair can look stiff and strained; the opposite of effortless. And not to mention the damage that too much styling can do to your hair!

To help you achieve the perfect, effortless chic hairstyle this season, we’ve put together of our three favourite hairstyle trends for autumn that are easy, simple and super striking!

Slicked Back Hair

We have major fashion houses like Givenchy, Dior and Oscar De La Renta to thank for this extremely chic hairstyle trend!
Spotted on the runway for the first time this past spring, the slicked back ‘do is all the rage – and oh so easy to achieve.

Simply slick back your hair (in any parting, middle or side) and tie together in either a low ponytail or bun at the nape of your neck or, if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, two pigtails or 90’s inspired buns on either side of your face.

Slicked back hair deserves a bit of shine, so use hair gel, hairspray or hair wax with added sheen to keep your tresses slicked back and flat on your head.

This style works with either short or long hair and will work beautifully with ethnic or caucasian hair types.

Alice Bands, Hair Bands, Delicate Hair Adornments

You know the 90’s are making a comeback when Alice Bands are back in style!

However, this time around we’re not talking chunky, plastic Alice Bands circa 1992. Instead, the trend is delicate, feminine and simple Alice Bands and hair bands that only add a touch of sparkle to your hairdo.

If you’re not a fan of Alice Bands or hair bands, you can look at adding simple hair adornments to your style.

Think delicate pearl clips, softly sparkling hair combs or even flower hair tie. Remember that with this style, less is more.

Soft Waves

Soft waves have been in style for what seems like forever. That’s because this style is so natural, effortless and chic – and it looks good on everyone!

Think soft curls that gradually fall out as your day goes on.

The key is to get these waves looking natural. You can use a hair straightener or curling iron to gently curl the tips or mid-length of your hair and then comb through gently with your fingers.

A good product to use for this hairstyle is a soft, medium-hold hairspray or a salt water spray that will give your hair that natural, beachy look.

Remember that there are thousands of different hair types and some styles will work better with certain hair types than others. The trick is to choose a trend you like and to make it work for you and your hair type.

Happy hair days!
