The best homemade ice cream recipes
These are our absolute favourite ice cream recipes that you can make at home – easy as (ice cream) cake!
Lemon Zest Ice Cream
Ingredients:
1 can condensed milk
2 cups heavy cream (whipping cream is great)
1 lemon (juiced)
1 teaspoon lemon extract
In a tupperware container with a lid (ironically, a store bought ice cream container works best) mix the cream with the condensed milk.
Then, once thoroughly mixed, add the juice of the lemon and add some of the zest (feel) for texture. Mix well so everything is the same consistency.
Then, as easy as that, place the container in the freezer and allow to freeze for a minimum of 6 hours – but preferably overnight.
Raspberry ice cream
Ingredients:
1 cup frozen raspberries (or any berry of your choice, really)
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup Greek yoghurt
1 tablespoon honey
In a blender, mix all of the ingredients together until you have a smooth consistency. Do a taste test to make sure the mixture is not too sour from the berries.
If it is, simply add another teaspoon of honey, until the flavour develops to your taste.
The, same as above, put the mixture in a tupperware container and freeze for up to 24 hours.
Spicy chocolate ice cream
Ingredients:
1 slab of chilli chocolate (the Lindt dark chocolate chilli works best)
1 can of condensed milk
1 cup whipping cream
½ teaspoon of Vanilla extract
Start by melting the chocolate i a pit over the stove. Once it’s melted, pour it into a bowl and allow to cool for a minute or so.
While the chocolate is cooling, whip the cream until it makes soft peaks. Then, mix in the chocolate, vanilla extract and condensed milk into the whipped cream.
Mix well and if needs be, add two tablespoons of cream (un-whipped) to thin out the mixture.
Pour the mixture into a pan or container and freeze for 8 hours or more.
