Boko Haram To Negotiate Release of 83 More Chibok Girls
According to various reports, Nigerian terrorist group, Boko Haram, is apparently ready to negotiate the release of 83 more of the so-called Chibok girls with the Nigerian government.
The news comes after the group freed 21 of the Chibok girls just last week.
The girls, who became globally known as the Chibok girls, were kidnapped from their school in the Chibok area of Nigeria in 2014. A total of 276 girls were abducted.
The kidnapping of the girls also sparked an international campaign called ‘Bring Back our Girls’, that called on the group to release the girls.
After last week’s release of 21 girls, it seems as though the group is ready to release even more girls.
According to reports, Nigeria’s Presidential Spokesperson, Garba Shehu, announced the new development in the case of the girls and that Boko Haram is willing to negotiate their release.
He also said that the Nigerian government is willing to negotiate with Boko Haram as well.
“…The faction said it is ready to negotiate if the government is willing to sit down with them,” Shehu said.
