Cameroonian Teenager Escapes Boko Haram

A 16-year old Cameroonian girl has escaped Boko Haram captivity, after she was held captive for over 18-months by the extremist terrorist group.

The girl was kidnapped, along with her 1-month old baby, from Cameroon 18 months ago and taken to Nigeria after which she was married to an extremist fighter.

She was also trained to be a suicide bomber.

However, the girl finally managed to make her escape last week when the Nigerian military raided Boko Haram camp.

She then ran away during the raid and wandered through the Sambisa forest in the northern part of the country for several days before she was found by a local defense group that had also been fighting the extremists.

After she was found – and in a very bad shape – she was handed over to Cameroon’s military.

“…[sic] When the Nigerian army attacked the Boko Haram camp where we were, there was confusion everywhere and I escaped to the forest where I walked for a week and handed myself to the first people I saw,” the young girl told reporters.

The girl also spoke of her ordeal and said that there were dozen of other young girls in the campo where she was held.

She said they were trained to detonate suicide bombs:

‘…They took us two times every week and gave us lessons on how to detonate bombs. We were told if we died while defending Allah’s cause against evil men, we shall be received in paradise,” she told reporters.
