Delicious Suya Shawarma Recipe
Shawarma is a local popular fast food option, especially for university students and the youth in general.
The traditional method of preparing the shawarma meat is difficult to replicate at home, so we have decided to make it easy by replacing the shawarma meat with our flamed grilled beef suya.
If you are able to make a tasty beef suya, then you are half done. There are some similarities in the way suya and shawarma meat is grilled, and the taste is not miles apart.
Ingredients:
Beef suya (sliced)
Flat bread (tortilla wraps or pita)
Red cabbage
Lettuce
Onions, tomatoes and cucumber
Olive oil and peanut butter
Salad cream or mayonnaise
Lemon juice
Directions:
Rinse your cabbage and lettuce and slice them to the same size as the meat.
Add a dash of lemon juice to the cabbage. This will help to soften it a bit and make it easier to bite and chew.
Slice the cucumber, tomatoes and onions, and add them to your salad bowl.
Add a generous amount of salad cream or mayonnaise and stir it all up.
Heat up your beef suya slices and shawarma bread in the microwave, separately.
Spread your shawarma bread on a large plate, add your salad and beef suya.
Wrap your flat bread and fillings nicely.
Heat up the wrap for 2 minutes, then serve.
