EgyptAir: Families To Receive Compensation
The families of the EgyptAir flight MS804 cash will all be receiving compensation to the tune of $25 000, EgyptAir officials have said.
The plane, which carried 66 people on board, crashed into the Mediterranean on May 19th. It is not yet known what the cause of the crash was, but investigators are busy examining the plane’s black boxes for any recorded flight data that could help in the investigation.
Safwat Musallam, chair of EgyptAir, said that an insurance company will pay out the $25 000 to the family members:
“…An insurance company will pay an advance of $25 000 after each family prepares its certificate of inheritance,” he said.
He added that death certificates were also being prepared:
“…Death certificates will be ready before Thursday for Egyptians and foreigners,” he said.
While investigators are still examining the cause of the crash, many people have speculated that terrorism could be at play, as smoke was detected in the plane before it went down, which could possibly mean that there was a bomb on board.
