Kaduna University Suspends Lecturer Over Hate Speech
One of the senior lecturers form the Kaduna State university, has been suspended following hate speech comments made on social media.
John Danfulani, a senior lecturer at the university, was suspended after he made (what was deemed as) hate fun comments on a Facebook thread.
Danfulani expressed his feelings in a Facebook comment section where he lashed out at supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, northern leaders, and President Muhammad Buhari.
In addition to that he also seemed to mock the lack of well-educated or out-of-school children in the North.
A part of his Facebook comment read as follows:
“…[sic] To them, APC is a religious party. Northern leaders under the party are demigods and crusaders of their ways of life. These people living in dusty villages of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Kano, Jigawa are quick in calling you ‘Arne or Kafiri’ (Meaning Pagan) once you express your view on anything their God PMB and his brigade of small Angels are doing. Attack the attacker, and lets the skies fall,”
Immediately after the comment was posted, people started criticising his comment.
The university then later labelled his comment as “divisive, injurious and tantamount to hate speech” and subsequently suspended him.
Danfulani has since deleted his Facebook page and is believed to be out of the country.
The University also said that while Danfulani was suspended, there would be no further disciplinary action against him.
