Michael Carrick’s Future with Man United Murky

October 26, 2026

The knives are out for Michael Carrick after Manchester United suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth yesterday afternoon, Sunday 25 October.

Rumours immediately started swirling after the final whistle that the Red Devils are considering sacking the 45-year-old coach, who has led the English Premier League outfit on a winless run dating back to September.

In a post-match press conference after his men’s loss, Carrick was outright asked if he expected to be sacked.

“I totally understand the situation,” he answered. “I’m not expecting anything in particular to be honest; I’m carrying on as normal. I love this place, and I’ll always do what I feel is going to be best for the football club, whatever decision is made on anything, really. That’s kind of it; I’m not expecting either way.”

Carrick revealed that club executives did speak to him after the game, albeit briefly and “nothing out of the ordinary.”

Manchester United currently occupy a dismal spot on the EPL rankings: 16th place with seven points. With the way things are going, Carrick will need a miracle to both secure his position and lead his team to the top ten.
