Reports are suggesting that eleven people – three of whom are said to be infants – have been abducted from a quiet village in the north of Nigeria.

The village in question, called Tipchi, is said to be in the Bauchi State of the country.

According to newspaper, the Ghana Star, a group of gunmen stormed the village in the early hours of the morning on Monday last week, and proceeded to abduct 11 people – including the three babies.

According to the report, three other people were also injured during the abduction.

Ilya Muhammad, a relative of some of the abductees, apparently confirmed the kidnapping and also said that the kidnappers have contacted him regarding ransom for the return of the victims.

According to another official, military troops and police have been deployed to the area to help with the rescue of the kidnapped victims.
