Senior Boko Haram Leaders Killed in Airstrikes in Nigeria
Various reports are suggesting that senior leaders of the terrorist group, Boko Haram, including their leader, have been fatally wounded in airstrikes conducted by the Nigerian air force.
Air strikes were carried out by the Nigerian air force in the north east of the country and are believed to have struck various Boko Haram leaders.
According to reports, the airstrikes targeted the Sambisa forest near Gambaru in Borno state. Apparently the airstrikes were carried out when the various leaders and fighters of Boko Haram gathered together for some sort of ceremony.
A correspondent for Al Jazeera news said that the attack happened on Friday at the terrorist group’s Shekau camp:
“…The attack happened on Friday on Shekau’s camp. We know that the Chibok girls are held at the Shekau camp to which the Nigerian army said that they are doing everything possible to rescue them,” the correspondent said.
As for the fate of the leaders of Boko Haram that were fatally injured in the attack, Nigerian army spokesperson, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, said that he had been wounded in his shoulders:
“…Their leader, so called ‘Abubakar Shekau’, is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders,” he said in a statement.
He also said that the army believes three other Boko haram commanders – Abubakar Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman – were killed in the airstrike.
