Teenage Suicide Bombers Kill 6 in Borno State

March 15, 2017

Nigerian officials have confirmed that at least six people have been killed by four teenage girl suicide bombers, who detonated their bombs on the outskirts of Maiduguri City in the Borno State of the country.

It is believed they were part of terrorist group, Boko Haram.

According to the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria, the young girls killed two people and injured 16 others, along with killing themselves when the bombs detonated.

Officials said that the blasts happened early on Wednesday morning close to the Muna Garage in Maiduguri City. This specific garage has become a popular spot for Boko Haram attacks over the past year.

The use of teenagers – especially girls – has become a popular strategy for Boko Haram as of late.

The terrorists capture these young girls and then train them to become suicide bombers for the terrorist group.

It is estimated that more than 200 young girls have lost their lives in terrorist attacks across the country since the insurgency of Boko Haram in 2009.
