August 08, 2016

Police in Nigeria has confirmed that two Chinese nationals have been kidnapped by gunmen in the country.

According to police, the two Chinese men were on their way to the capital of Abuja when they were kidnapped by gunmen on the road.

Apparently, they were ambushed by the gunmen who seemed to have waited for them in the small village of Agada.

Ismail Noman, Nasarawa state police spokesperson, said that they do not know where the Chinese nationals are currently being held.

“…[sic] The Chinese nationals were abducted around 14:30 yesterday [Saturday] on their way to Abuja and taken to an unknown location,” he told the media.

The Chinese consulate in the country has not commented on the incident yet.

Abductions of foreign nationals are commonplace in Nigeria. These foreigners are usually captured in groups and then held for ransom.
