Two Explosions In Chibok

January 29, 2016

According to various news outlets two explosions have rocked the Borno State community of Chibok on Wednesday.

This is the same community where more than 200 Nigerian school girls were abducted by terrorist group, Boko Haram nearly two years ago.

While there has been no official word on what the explosions are or where they came from, it is believed that the explosions were that of two suicide bombers, affiliated with Boko Haram.

Reports are also suggesting that the two explosions killed a number of people – although no exact number has been identified.

It is also believed that numerous other people were injured in the explosions.

According to the BBC’s Hausa service – who is reporting in the area – one of the suicide bombers allegedly struck at the town’s main market, that was crowded with people.

It is believed that the other suicide bomber went off at a military checkpoint.

Both explosions happened on Wednesday, with the explosion at the military checkpoint happening in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

After Boko Haram kidnapped the 200 school girls in Chinook back in 2014, the community has been heavily secured by the Nigerian government and military.

It is unknown if Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
