Two Italian Citizens Kidnapped in Libya

September 21, 2016

Italy’s foreign ministry have confirmed that two Italian citizens have been kidnapped in the north African country of Libya.

According to various news reports, the two men were working for a construction company that operates in the city of Ghat.

The foreign ministry released a brief statement confirming that the two men had been kidnapped, and that a third person was also abducted.

However, the ministry said they did not have much information about the third person. It is also not known whether the third person is Italian or not.

The ministry declined to provide reporters with any further details of these abductions, saying that the situation was ‘delicate’.

This is not the first time that foreigners have been abducted in Libya. More and more foreigners are being abducted in northern African countries where they are then held for ransom.
