Alvaro Morata Claims Chelsea Made Him an Offer
Real Madrid star, Alvaro Morata, has revealed that English Premier League club, Chelsea, showed a lot of interest in acquiring his services before he finally decided to join Real Madrid.
Being Spanish himself, Morata said he could not resist returning to his hometown.
While speaking to a German sports newspaper, Morata said that Chelsea was the one club – besides Real Madrid – that showed the most interest in the 23-year-old.
Should he have joined Chelsea, he would have reunited with coach at Juventus, Antonio Conte.
He continued saying that the offer Chelsea made was very big, and that if he had accepted, he would have been the most expensive Spanish player in history:
“…Antonio Conte had already signed me for Juventus and it was a very good offer this time. I would have been the most expensive Spanish player ever…They offered roughly 70 million Euros, but Real Madrid said they had me in their plans and that was always my dream.”
