Close Call For United
Manchester United nearly went down to Crystal Palace last night for the first time since 1991.
The Red Devils struggled in the first half, creating few chances and being sloppy with possession.
Goals from Andros Townsend and Patrick van Aanholt in the 11th and 48th minutes seemed to put Palace firmly in the lead.
But United made an astonishing comeback in the second half as Chris Smalling and Romelu Lukaku evened the score in the 55th and 76th minutes.
Nemanja Matic then scored to seal United’s victory, 3-2, with a volley from nearly 30 metres away during injury time.
The result sees the Eagles remain in the relegation zone, while United move back into second place, above Liverpool, who they are set to face on Saturday, 10 March.
United boss, Jose Mourinho, says that he was left with a “great feeling” even though his team made “so many mistakes”.
He also praised Crystal Palace boss, Roy Hodgson, saying that Hodgson “did everything right”, even though his team lost out.
