Eagles Out Of CHAN 2016
Nigerian soccer fans had their hearts broken after the national soccer team, the Eagles, crashed out of the 2016 CHAN tournament – much to the surprise of many.
The Eagles lost their spot in the CHAN tournament after they lost a crucial game against Guinea.
Guinea’s star player, Ibrahima Sory Sankhon, secured Guinea’s fate as he scored the only goal of the game that ended 1 – 0 in Guinea’s favour.
It was a hard pill to swallow for Nigeria, as they had some promise in their eyes after they won their very first game of the tournament against Niger, which they followed by a draw against Tunisia.
In fact, Nigeria was actually on top of the log in their Group C pool, with four points ahead of both Niger and Guinea as well as Tunisia – who were trailing by two points.
However, the pool standings dramatically changed after Nigeria lost to Guinea.
In the other Group C game, Tunisia secured that they were top of the log after they beat Niger by a whopping five goals to zero.
