Eagles Players Won’t Boycott AFCON Qualifiers

The Nigerian Football Federation has said that none of the national team’s players will boycott the upcoming AFCON qualifiers and that fans needn’t be worried.

The Federation has insisted that the team, the Super Eagles, will not allow the African Nations Championship setback to affect their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Egypt on March 16th.

According to various reports last week, some of the Eagles players have threatened not to honour the Egypt game because of unpaid bonuses.

However, NFF General Secretary Dr. Sanusi Muhammed said that this was not the case and that the Eagles players are very patriotic and that they would not boycott the game.

According to him, the players know the importance of the qualifiers to the country and would not want to disappoint their country and numerous fans by staying away from the game.

He also said that the players have been working very hard and are keen to put on a good show in Egypt:

“…We are putting all the necessary machinery in place for a resounding win in Kaduna and a good result in Cairo a week later. We are leaving no stone unturned in the build-up for the match. We have put CHAN behind us and focus is now AFCON,” he said.
