Emmanuel Adebayor Mourns Keshi

June 20, 2016

Togo international, Emmanuel Adebayor, has expressed his sadness over the death of Stephen Keshi.

Keshi, who was a big part of Nigerian soccer and served as both captain of the national team and head coach, passed away earlier this month from an apparent heart attack.

Keshi was also the head coach of the Togo international team in 2006 and for a brief period in 2010.

Adebayor, who plays for Crystal Palace and is currently serving as captain for the Togo international team, said Keshi’s death was a great loss for African football.

Keshi was playing in an exhibition match in Lome which organised to honour Keshi on Sunday.

“…I knew Keshi when I was very young. He taught me a lot in my career. His death is a great loss to African football,” he said.

Former Togo captain, Jean-Paul Abalo Dosseh, also had praise for Keshi:

“…Keshi is a man I will never forget. He taught us about discipline in the squad and he made us a force at the time,” he said.
