Euro 2016: France vs Portugal Final

The 2016 European Championship is drawing to a close, and it looks like Sunday’s big final is set to be one of the best games in Euro history.

With host nation France beating Germany in the semi-finals, the home team will now take on the fiery Portuguese team, under leadership of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Portugal beat Wales in the semi-final on Wednesday.

The odds were against France when they took on World Champions Germany in yesterday’s semi-final, but they managed to pull through and secure a final in their home country.

According to France’s coach, Didier Deschamps, it’s his team’s willpower that carried them through the semi-final and that will help them in the final.

“…We found it tough but we didn’t give up…There is quality in this German team. And when they don’t have the ball it gets even more complicated. We had the best team in the world opposite us,” Deschamps said of the Germany game.

He also said that the support from the French people has been phenomenal, and that they expect even more support come Sunday:

“…Before we came to the stadium we saw people going crazy – they are going to be even crazier on Sunday…I’ve always believed in my players. The ones I chose to form this squad have repaid me handsomely. This is their story, their victory,” he said.
