Flamingos Crush SA In FIFA Qualifier

March 15, 2016

The Nigerian National u/17 Women’s team, the Flamingos, looks set to claim a spot in the FIFA u/17 Women’s World Cup later this year, as they had a fantastic game against South Africa on Saturday.

The Flamingos pur on a very impressive show, as the young women completely trumped the South African u/17 women’s team by beating them 6 – 0.

This was the final round in the first leg qualifier for the  Flamingos.

It was a thrilling start for the Flamingos, as the women managed to score all six of their impressive goals within the first half of the match. Thus setting up a rather bleak outlook for the South Africans in the second half.

There were no goals scored by either team in the second half, with all the action taking place in the first half.

And while the whole Flamingos team had an incredibly impressive game, the stand-out star of the match was undoubtedly the captain of the team, Rasheedat Ajibade.

Ajibade managed to score four out of the team’s six goals – and all of them in the first 45 minutes of the game. The other two goals were scored by an equally impressive Yetunde Fajobi.

There are only three slots available for African teams in the FIFA u/17 Women’s World Cup – which is set to take place in Jordan later this year.

Nigeria wil face South Africa again this coming weekend, but with a lead as strong as they have, it is almost safe to say that the women are well on their way to Jordan.

Nigeria also has a good track record when it comes to the FIFA u/17 Women’s World Cup. The team has participated at all the previous FIFA u/1717 Women’s World Cup final competitions.

As for the other African countries vying for a spot in the final, Ghana is set to take on Morocco later this week, while Egypt will take on Cameroon.
