Iheanacho Insist He Hasn’t Fallen Out With Guardiola

Nigerian international and Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho, has insisted that he has not fallen out with his manager, Pep Guardiola, despite rumours to this effect.

Critics, who first expected Iheanacho to be the break-out star for City this season, have said that Iheanacho has fallen out of favour thanks to the arrival of Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus, earlier in the year.

Jesus has had stellar performances since arriving at the club, and veteran Man City striker, Sergio Agüero, has also had a stunning season, leaving Iheanacho a little bit in the shadows.

However, the 20-year-old Nigerian was quick to set the record straight, telling reporters that he has a great relationship with Guardiola and that he has not fallen out of favour.

“I’ve got a good relationship with the manager – everyone here has a good relationship with him…We are happy to have him here. He will take this club far, because he is a great manager,” he said.

He continued, emphasising the importance of training and of being a team player.

“When you are not playing, you need to train harder. You need to keep faith…And when you come into the team, you have to do exactly what your teammates are doing to help the team achieve something.”
