Newcastle United Apologises To Fans For Relegation

May 12, 2016

English soccer club, Newcastle United, has issued an apology to their fans and supporters, saying that they are truly sorry and embarrassed to have been relegated out of the English Premier League.

It was a close call for Newcastle as they struggled at the bottom of the log for a long time.

However, it was rivals Sunderland’s 3 – 0 win over Everton on Wednesday that put the final nail in the coffin for Newcastle.

They were then officially dropped from the Premier League along with Aston Villa and Norwich City.

Lee Charnley, managing director of Newcastle United, apologised directly to the fans in a statement on the team’s official website:

“…Tonight we are devastated at our relegation from the Premier League, as I know every single person connected to this football club will be,” a part of the statement read.

He then continued to thank the fans for their support despite the club’s poor performance:

“…I want to thank all of the fans for the support you have shown for the club you love throughout the season, in spite of this massive disappointment and underachievement..Your support throughout has been magnificent, but I want to pay particular thanks for the incredible backing you have given to Rafa (Benitez) and the team during the latter part of the season,” he said.
