Super Eagles Draws Friendly With Corsica
Nigeria’s first team, the Super Eagles, had a somewhat successful match against Corsica on Friday, after they managed to draw 1-1.
The Super Eagles took on Corsica in a friendly on Friday at the Stade Francois-Coty Stadium in the Corsican city of Ajaccio.
However, things did not start off well for the Nigerians, as Jean-Jacques Mandrichi scored a penalty against the Super Eagles within the first five minutes of the game.
The heat was then on for the Nigerians, and the team seemed to pull together and keep the Corsican team at bay for the remainder of the first-half.
The second-half also started off well for the Nigerians, who created several opportunities but failed to follow through and score.
Their break finally game in the last ten minutes of the game when Manchester City striker, Kelechi Iheanacho scored a penalty for his home country.
The remainder of the game saw both teams trying to score again and avoid a draw, but it was all in vain as the final score came to 1-1.
The Super Eagles have been in Corsica, France for the past 10 days as they attended a training camp held by Nigerian head coach, Gernot Rohr – a French international himself – after which they took on the local side for a friendly.
They will next take on Togo at the Stade Municipal de Saint Leu La Foret in Paris for yet another friendly on June 1st.
Both these friendly matches and the training camp was organised by Rohr as practise for Nigeria’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match with South Africa on June 20th.
