Terry Will Leave Chelsea at The End of The Season
English Premier Club and current leaders, Chelsea, have confirmed that long-time Chelsea player and captain, John Terry, will leave the club at the end of the 2016/2017 season.
Rumours have been doing the rounds for a while now that Terry would be leaving the club at the end of the season.
He has not been playing very much this season at all, and has seemed to have fell out of favour with new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte.
He has made only five appearances for Chelsea this season, despite still being the club’s captain.
Terry has a long and rich history with Chelsea, and has been part of the Blues for 22 years, making his debut for the senior team in 1998 and has made 713 appearances for Chelsea in total.
The club issued a statement on Monday, announcing their joint decision to end Terry’s tenure with the club.
“John Terry and Chelsea Football Club today jointly announce our captain will leave the club at the end of the season,” a part of the statement read.
In his own statement released alongside that of the club, Terry said that there are countless people to than and that he has not made a decision on his career after Chelsea as of yet.
“I will decide on my future in due course, but for now I am committed to helping the team achieve success this season…After 22 years there is so much to say and so many people to thank at this great football club,” he said.
He continued, saying that his ‘fantastic’ relationship with Chelsea will continue, despite him not being a part of the team anymore after this season.
“The club and I have always had a fantastic relationship, which will continue beyond my playing days…I’ve always been conscious that I depart at the right time, in the right way, and I feel that the end of this season is the right time for the club and I [sic],” he said.
