Uche Agbo: Super Eagles Will Star In 2018 FIFA World Cup
Nigerian star midfielder, Uche Agbo, has said that he is confident Nigeria’s Super Eagles will have a starring role at the 2018 FIFA Soccer World Cup in Russia, despite the national team not performing at their best as of late.
The Super Eagles did not even manage to qualify for the recent AFCON tournament in Gabon. The tournament was won on Sunday by Cameroon.
However, Agbo feels that despite Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the AFCON tournament, and despite the fact that the Super Eagles will face the newly crowned AFCON winners in a World Cup qualifier in August, they have what it takes to beat Cameroon and make it to Russia in 2018.
“With all due respect, the AFCON is not the World Cup. And whatever Cameroon achieved at the AFCON will not stop us from being at Russia 2018,” he told reporters.
He continued, saying that he does not believe that the Cameroonian team will be able to beat the Super Eagles.
“I haven’t seen anything special in the Cameroonian team. They do not have what it takes to stop the Super Eagles…No team can stop us from the World Cup,” he said.
The Super Eagles are currently leading their group in the qualifying stages, with six points. Cameroon, who are in the group, have two points.
