Wenger Blames Criticism on Discrimination
Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, has blamed the criticism he has received on age discrimination.
The 68-year-old has faced increasing calls over the last few years to be replaced as the Gunners’ manager.
The club has not won the Premier League for the last 14 years, they failed to qualify for the Champions League last season, and crashed out of the Carabao Cup final this year to Manchester City 3-0.
However, Wenger believes that Arsenal’s poor performance is not the only factor behind the criticism he has faced.
He said: “When you age, you focus on doing well for your club and ignore all the rest. The older you get, the more it becomes age discrimination.”
Wenger added that he understands criticism based on poor results, but won’t accept any age discrimination.
Wenger has won three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups during his 22 years with Arsenal and hopes that, when he does finally leave, he will be remembered favourably.
